Diagnostic Test for Freshmen Mathematics Students (2n version)

The test is a set of Maple TA (version 2.5.1) questions, grouped in four levels, that cover the mathematical curriculum of secondary schools in Catalonia.

In this version a physics bank has been included, covering the secondary education physics curricula, which can be added to the mathematics questions for diagnosing freshmen in engineering.

  • Level 1 has 9 questions about basic general knowledge (such as the Pithagoras theorem).
  • Level 2 has 21 questions whose answer is a quick computation.
  • Level 3 has 20 questions of medium difficulty and of a more theoretical nature.

Java Laboratory for differential curves

Java laboratory of curves

This laboratory is designed to experiment and visualize the elemental concepts of differential geometry of curves in the plane or the space.
It is possible to use it in:
http://www.mat.uned.es/GeoCM/2PP/lab_curvas/_apps/matematica3d_20.app/ma...
(please be patient, some times our server is slow)
With this laboratory it possible to visualize the Frenet frame, osculatrix circle, evolute, osculatrix plane, ... and to compute curvature, torsion, arc length, ... of differential curves and to see nice animations.

Cálculo con soporte interactivo en Moodle (Calculus with interactive support over Moodle)

Calculus course developed in a dual way, both in paper and as a Moodle course.

Maths for More has worked on the technical development of this course of Pearson Education.

Achilles, Turtle, and the Geometric Series

Achilles_Podcast

This is a short video that discusses the paradox of Zeno. It turns out that this paradox is not a paradox but rather an easy way to show that a geometric series converges (if |q| < 1) and to find a formula for the sum. Suitable for high schools.
