How should the JEM portal support SIGs activities?

I would like to call for your feedback on how the portal can be improved to support activities of coordination in special interest groups. One way for you to improve the portal is by

  • using it and reporting pitfalls to the administrator (use the Contact form)
  • read the deliverables, you might be surprised - did you ever try "Search"? did you ever use "Subscribe" to stay informed on changes on a page/wiki e.g. this one? , did you ever contact another member using the contact tab?, did you ever rearrange/sort the entries on a table?
  • check Drupal for features, modules additions that you might like
  • volunteer to administer certain parts
  • start using the wikis (did you notice that text can be edited in wiki-like syntax?)

The JEM network is devoted to the "coordination" and "support" of dissemination and good practice activities and every member can request assistance in promoting these kind of activities: especially SIGs.

Let me also tell you that we can also offer virtual conferencing if you need to setup a virtual meeting, we use it already for the meetings of the JEM steering committee.

In addition to the forum, a website for the workshop would be great. Maybe we could have something like 'workshops' in the 'community' section. Clicking at that link should provide a list of regular workshops arrange by JEM, such as scoop. There general information could be added as well as links to current announcements and the forum. Actually it would be nice to have an RSS feet there of recently posted comments on the forum and news items of the type 'scoop'. We have done that at the KWARC website to provide an overview of all the activities going on in the wikis, forums, blogs ect.

Create a page allows you to create a general page: look at the new sig/scoop entry point. From there you can link to interesting parts of the portal.

I must check about the RSS feed on SCOOP (there is one on the forum, just click on SCOOP, you see the RSS logo appear and you may subscribe to it). Recent posts does a pretty good job. Subscribe also. We can certainly add SCOOP as a type of news. These categories are fixed but requests for terms are welcome!
