Semester 4, University of Birmingham
Development work on the STACK CAA system has slowed while we replace the (only) full-time developer. We were not able to appoint on the first occasion, but are currently shortlisting and hope to appoint soon.
We are becoming much more involved with the GeoGebra software, including involvement for the International GeoGebra institute, eg meeting in Cambridge 7&8th May 2008. Birmingham has applied for, and holds, small grants for the development of GeoGebra itself, and is hosting events for both school teachers and university academics to raise their awareness of this new tool.
CJS has started to write a substantial monograph: "computer aided assessment of mathematics", which will be a focus of attention for the summer. This will contain case studies of the work of UoB, other JEM partners, and CAA internationally.
A number of talks given on CAA and teaching with the software GeoGebra.
eg
18/3/8 University of Loughborough. (CJS)
22/4/8 Nottingham Trent University. (CJS)
24/4/8 IMA conference on mathematical education of eningeers (ECP)
1/5/8 University of Loughborough. (CJS)
We have, at last, started to map out how we transfer out old e-learning content in the AiM system into the new STACK format.
