Living Taxonomy
The Living Taxonomy Project is a collaborative effort aimed at creating a global set of open source, standards-based taxonomies for education. Currently the LivingTaxonomy comprises of nine different taxonomies.
The taxonomy intended for mathematics education is based on Core Subject Taxonomy for Mathematical Sciences Education. This taxonomy is specially designed for classifying digital resources in mathematics education.
The main titles all include a set of further refined topics, the main titles in this taxonomy are:
- Numbers and Computation
- Logic and Foundations
- Algebra and Number Theory
- Discrete Mathematics
- Geometry and Topology
- Calculus
- Analysis
- Differential and Difference Equations
- Statistics and Probability
- Applied Mathematics
- Mathematics History
The Living Taxonomy is available as vocabulary (for Drupal) and terms of the classification can be browsed.
This vocabulary allows multiple selection of terms, e.g. to define all areas of mathematics which are relevant wrt a learning resource.
